Redmi Note 15 Special Edition in India
Chinese company Redmi is introducing a new addition to its popular Note series called Redmi…
OnePlus recently hinted at the arrival of its new mid-premium smartphone, the OnePlus 15R, which is expected to launch in December 2025 in select markets, including India.
The “Coming” tag has already appeared on the company’s website and the Amazon microsite, indicating that the device is nearing a formal release soon.
OnePlus has also clarified that the 15R model will be “Power On. Limits Off.” will come with the tagline, which reflects the confidence in its ability and performance.
This launch is special in that OnePlus has traditionally launched its flagship and R-series models close together, but this time the strategy of introducing the 15R at separate times has been adopted.
According to leaks and teasers, the design of the OnePlus 15R feels modest yet premium: it has been spotted in two color variants — black and olive/green.
The screen is expected to be a 6.83‑inch 1.5K AMOLED display that will deliver a 165Hz refresh rate, making gaming and multimedia experience extremely smooth.
Another important thing regarding the display is that these parameters provide a “remarkable balance”: not exactly entry-level, and not the most expensive flagship display.
The OnePlus 15R is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset which is expected to deliver quite high performance.
It’s the same chip that’s also used in OnePlus’ flagship-level models, so the 15R could offer users “flagship-like performance at a lower price.”
Regarding the battery, leaks suggest that it will have a large 7,800 mAh battery, and the battery is expected to support 120W SuperVOOC fast charging, which is favored during fast recharging.
With this performance setup, the 15R could be an attractive option for gamers, power users, and mid-range content creators.
The OnePlus 15R is expected to sport a dual-camera setup, which showcases its simple yet effective photography strategy.
According to leaks, it could have a 50-megapixel main sensor, which could come with optical image stabilization (OIS), and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
Regarding the front camera, reports suggest that it might have a 16-megapixel selfie sensor, which is good enough for video calls, social media posts and everyday use.
This camera setup seems in line with OnePlus’ “premium mid” positioning: instead of more camera lenses, they take the features that are actually needed more, and it also helps keep the phone’s price under control.
OnePlus 15R is expected to come with OxygenOS16, which will be based on Android 16.
OxygenOS 16 brings generally useful features such as better AI integration, energy saving, and a smoother interface, which help improve the user experience.
Another important touch is that OnePlus has said that the “Alert Slider” will be removed to introduce the Plus Key, which will be a multi-function button — perhaps for AI control, shortcuts or power features.
This new button and software approach could not only change the user experience but also give OnePlus a new marketing edge.
Various reports have suggested that the price of the OnePlus 15R is expected to be around ₹42,999 to ₹44,999, making it a premium mid-range phone.
Another report also said that Amazon is expected to have first offers, and pre-order discounts after its microsite launch, which will entice customers to shop.
If this price holds true, the 15R could compete strongly in the premium performance + budget category in the market, especially for consumers who want a flagship-level chipset but don’t want to pay the full flagship price.
Overall, the OnePlus 15R is shaping up to be a very exciting and strategic launch. It aims to deliver a phone that brings OnePlus flagship-level power and features, but at a mid-range price. With a possible launch of December 2025, this device could be a great choice for gamers, power users and mid-range enthusiasts.
If OnePlus successfully launches this device, it will continue strongly with its traditional “R‑series” strategy and may introduce more such “rebranded / mid-premium” models in the coming years.
Moreover, since the market competition is fierce — other brands are also bringing premium mid-phones — if the 15R balances its price, performance and features, it could prove to be a successful product for OnePlus in terms of both financial and brand value.
